Description
The “TAMBOURINE” in my paintings is a “symbolic’ representation of the moving, shaking, and vibration of the Holy Spirit that brings transformation to our lives. The tambourine represents a musical note of a story and a truth.
This is how the Holy Spirit used art, music and scripture to speak to my heart.
This painting was inspired by several songs. Two songs I will mention here, "Let them see You" by Colton Dixon and “I give myself away” by William McDowell.
What does it mean to “give myself away”? It means withholding nothing from God. The spiritual battle we often face is when we choose to please ourselves or others when faced with a situation we know leads to sin and dishonoring God. In some cases, a poor decision is made to please others for fear of abandonment, rejection or punishment. The scriptures below demonstrate how we sometimes feel we know what is best for our lives. Truth tells us that God has our best interest in His plans for us.
But the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). We are reminded to be a living sacrifice in (Romans 12:1-2) transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is good and pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Surrendering to God not only allows us to embrace God but it allows God to embrace us.
The moving of the Holy Spirit leads us to salvation (John 6:44; Acts 2:21) and our initial surrendering to God. Continued daily surrendering and renewing of our minds will brings deeper intimacy with God.
This moving, shaking and vibration of the Spirit in our lives transforms us as we become more like Christ. (Galatians 5:33, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
2 Corinthians 4:4 (ESV) In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV) You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Proverbs 14:12 (ESV) There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Acts 2:21 (ESV) And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
John 1:12 (ESV) But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV) For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Galatians 5:22 (ESV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Mark 8:34 (ESV) And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Galatians 2:20 (ESV) I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Luke 6:22–23 (ESV) “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! 23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
John 14:16–17 (ESV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
1 John 1:9 (ESV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV) For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Romans 12:2 (ESV) Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
